We’re excited to share that construction is officially underway at our Emergency Shelter site located at 2219 Chicago Avenue! We are on track for our guests, staff, and volunteers to return to 2219 Chicago Avenue mid-summer 2025.
In the coming weeks, neighbors and passersby will notice some demolition and tree removal at the construction site. A fence has been put in place to promote safety.
We continue to operate our shelter program from our temporary location at 2545 Portland Avenue. We’re so grateful to the volunteers who helped make our December move a success, and to our staff and guests for their patience as we navigate the transition to the temporary space together.
Our temporary location does not have a dishwasher. While we are using some reusable items and washing by hand, we are also going through a high volume of disposable paper products serving three meals per day. If you would like to support our shelter during this transitional phase, please consider volunteering to provide and serve a meal, donating paper products from our wishlist, or making a financial contribution. We appreciate your ongoing support through this period of change!
Funded by a capital grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, this project will create safer, more accessible spaces, and add a second level so we can extend our service model from 21 to 38 guests.
